John Brown Farm State Historic Site

John Brown, a famous and ambiguous historical figure, is interred here. Since 1895, the farm has been owned by New York State, is maintained Department of Parks on the edge of Lake Placid, and recently celebrated 100 years as a State Historic Site. The outdoor interpretive displays provide photographs and descriptions of the men who joined in the raid on Harper's Ferry, and his fate. A trail meanders through the grounds and is accessible year round. Cross-country trails also available. Guided tours also.
