The Shawangunk Mountains are located between the
Catskill Mountains and the
Hudson River. They are one of the most important sites for conservation in the northeastern United States. They are 20 miles long and 5 miles wide. Nearby towns include New Paltz,
Kingston, High Falls, Stone Ridge and Woodstock.
