Defiance county is located in northwestern Ohio and with the city of Defiance serving as the county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 39,651, an increase of 301 over the 1990 census.
County features include the Tiffin River which flows from north to south through the center of the county before emptying into the Maumee River on the western Defiance city limits. The Maumee eventually empties into Maumee Bay/Lake Erie to the northeast.
