Fayette County

Fayette county is located in southwestern Ohio about half was between Columbus, the state capital, and Cincinnati and uses Washington Court House as its county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 28,399, an increase of 933 over the 1990 census.

Other than the county seat, this largely rural county has only one other town of any size--Jeffersonville, which lies along I-71 in the northwestern section of the county.

Flowing bodies of water include Rattlesnake Creek along the western portion, Paint Creek through the center of the county and the North Fork of Paint Creek along the eastern section. All three flow from north to south eventually joining other streams on the way to emptying into the Ohio River.
