Clinton county is located in southwestrn Ohio and uses Wilmington as its county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 40,701, an increase of 5,257 over the 1990 census.
Historic houses, buildings and sites include the Cowan Creek Circular Enclosure near Wilmington in mid-county, the Hillside Haven Mound near Oakland, the Lynchburg Covered Bridge at the southeast corner of the county and the Martinsville Road Covered Bridge in the south county area.
