Anadarko is located in southwestern Oklahoma in Caddo County (of which it is the county seat) west of Chickasha southeast of Fort Cobb Lake and Fort Cobb Lake State Park along Highway 9 on the banks of the Washita River.

Local attractions include Indian City, USA featuring seven authentic First Nation villages and the National Hall of Fame America Indians honoring great warriors and Chiefs--among them Sitting Bull and Geronimo.

Museum buffs will enjoy the Southern Plains Indian Museum & Crafts, the Western Delaware Tribal Museum and the Philomathic Pioneer Museum located in the historic Rock Island train depot.

Wolf's Heaven Indian Encampment provides the real-life experience of spending a night or a week in a Native American home--a tepee.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,782, an increase of 196 since 1990.
