Caddo County

Caddo county is located in west central Oklahoma with Anadarko serving as the county seat. The word "Caddo" is taken from the Caddo Indian word "Kadi" meaning "Cheif." Anadarko is also taken from the Caddoans "Na-da-ko" meaning "place of the bumble bee."

Outdoor recreation is provided by Fort Cobb Lake, Fort Cobb Lake State Park, Chickasha, the Washita River and Red Rock Canyon State Park. The Canadian River grazes the northeast corner of the county.

Interstate 40 and historic Route 66 pass through the northern edge of Caddo county.

The county population on July 1, 1999, was 30,664, an increase of 1,114 over the 1990 census.
