Cookson

Cookson is located in eastern Oklahoma in Cherokee County east of Muskogee along SR 82 on the banks of the Illinois River near 13,000-acre Lake Tenkiller.

The town is a favorite of scuba divers who can take in underwater sights such as huge uncut forests, limestone cliffs with their inviting caves and drop-offs reaching 165 feet. Other nearby recreational opportunities include Greenleaf State Park, Lake Tenkiller State Park, Cherokee Landing State Park and Brushy Creek State Park.
