Hennessey is located in north central Oklahoma in northern Kingfisher County at the intersection of U.S. Highway 81 and SR 51. U.S. 81 approximates the route of the old Chisholm Trail which was used by cattlemen who drove their herds to the stockyards of Kansas prior to the advent of the railroads. Hennessey is about equidistant between Enid to the north and Kingfisher. The Cimarron River flows through the county about 10 miles south of town.
