Norman is located in central Oklahoma in Cleveland County (of which it is the county seat) along Highway 77 and is the home of the University of Oklahoma.
The Little River flows from nearby Lake Thunderbird and runs southeast of town emptying into the Canadian River in Hughes County. Lake Thunderbird State Park and Lake Stanley Draper are located nearby.
Area attractions include the Sam Noble OK Museum of Natural History, the International Lamborghini Museum, the Norman/Cleveland County Museum and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art.
Norman is often referred to as "The City of Festivals" owing to its event-laden social calendar. Favorites include the Chocolate Festival in February and the Medieval Fair, complete with jousting, in April.
