Weatherford

Weatherford is located in west central Oklahoma in Custer County west of Oklahoma City and east of Clinton along Interstate 40 and historic Route 66. the fourth-generation Cotter Blacksmith Shop, Inc., is one of the little gems to be found along the Route.

Museum buffs will enjoy the Gen. Thomas P. Stafford Airport Museum which showcases artifacts of the Apollo astronaut's career. On display are moon rocks, authentic space suits and rocket engines.

The town is home to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is just north of Crowder Lake State Park.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 9,598, a decrease of 526 since 1990.
