Interstate 40

Interstate 40 crosses Oklahoma in a nearly exact east-west orientation. It crosses the border from Texas near Erick and continues east through Elk City, Clinton, El Reno and crosses Interstate 35 in Oklahoma City, the state capital. It continues east past Shawnee, Henryetta, Checotah and Sallisaw, before crossing into Arkansas near Fort Smith.
