Wewoka is located in central Oklahoma in
Seminole County and is the county seat. It is southeast of
Oklahoma City just north of U.S. Highway 270 on SR 56 about 15 miles south of
Interstate 40 and the
Canadian River.
The town is host to the Seminole Nation Museum where one can learn about the Nation's history, pioneers of the early Oklahoma days and about the oil boom days.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,068, an increase of 340 since 1990.
