Located in the southernmost tip of Ontario, Leamington is considered to be the tomato capital of Canada. In fact the local information booth resembles an immense tomato. The H.J. Heinz Company built a factory here in 1907. The area was settled in the mid-19th century, but early French voyageurs and missionaries visited the area in the 17th century. The town was once known by three different names - Wilkinson Corners, Gainsborough, and finally, Leamington.
