Between June and October, this 130-mile byway offers an alternate route from
Interstate 84 from
Heppner to
Baker City. Several sites are of state and national significance, including a national historic district,
Oregon Trail sites, the Wild and Scenic John Day River, the North Fork John Day Wilderness and remnants of historic mining and early settlements.
