Fort Klamath | |
This community is located in Klamath County, north of Klamath Falls, between Chiloquin and Crater Lake National Park along Hwy 62, on the banks of Annie
Creek, near Jackson F. Kimball State Park. Fort Klamath is also positioned within the Rogue River National Forest, north of Agency Lake, Upper Klamath lake and Wocus Bay.The Fort Klamath region, now a cattle-raising district, was the scene of frequent clashes between white settlers and the Modoc indians during the 1870's. The historic site of the military installation now has a reconstruction of one of the original buildings and several historical displays.
