The million acres of Siskiyou National Forest are almost entirely contained within southwest Oregon. From almost sea level to over 7,000 feet in elevation, the Forest contains a wide variety of plant and animal habitats and contains a particularly large number of rare plants.
The Forest's campgrounds are open from Memorial Day through either Labor Day or into October for hunting season. There are no reservations and campers are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Besides many well developed trails, the Forest includes five National Wilderness Areas, including Grassy Knob Wilderness and the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.
