Tangent is in central Linn County, the first community south of Albany on Highway 99E. Highway 34, between Corvallis and Lebanon, passes east-west through the town.This station on the Southern Pacific line south of Albany was named because of the long stretch of straight track to the north and south. This tangent is over 20 miles long. Tangent's post office was established September 17, 1872. The nearbyWillamette River offers a plethera of Fishing, Boating and River Tours. Hiking, Skiing, Hunting and Shooting are always favorites throughout Oregons always popular Coast and Cascade Mountain Ranges. Tangent is close to the civic centers of Eugene, Corvallis, Salem, Portland, while also being mid-way between Oregon State University and University of Oregon.
