The county seat of Klamath County, Oregon, is Klamath Falls. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 63,435, an increase of 5,733 over the 1990 census. This 6,135 square mile Southern Oregon county borders California. It is home to Crater Lake National Park.The county boomed when the railroad came through in the early part of the century but the population has not grown much in recent years. Highway 97 passes through the county from north to south and Highway 66 provides a historic and scenic, though slow, connection with the Interstate 5 corridor to the west.
