Hotel de Ville

City Hall

Not to be confused with the English word "hotel," the Hotel de Ville has housed Montreal's city administration since 1878. The interior and roof were rebuilt after a fire in 1922. From the balcony of this building, General Charles de Gaulle spoke the words, "Vive le Quebec libre!" in 1967.
