The mission of the New England Aquarium is to increase understanding of aquatic life and environments, to enable people to conserve the world of water and to provide leadership for the preservation and sustainable use of aquatic resources.
The mission is fulfilled through exhibits and through programs in education, research and conservation. Exhibits showcase diversity, importance and beauty of aquatic life and habitats, and highlight aquatic issues of importance. Programs emphasize species, habitats and issues critical to New England. The Newport Exploration Center strives to address issues of particular importance to the Narragansett Bay region.
The Exploration Center is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor day, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. including weekends.
