Aiken County Historical Museum |
The Aiken County Historical Museum invites guests to experience a rich and diverse past through exhibits, guided tours, and special programs. Banksia, a Winter Colony mansion built in 1931, houses the main museum collection. Also on the grounds is a restored one room school typical of many operated in Aiken County during the 19th and earlier 20th century. The Ergle Log House, built in 1808 by the Ergle family, is a single pen log house. It is one of the oldest existing houses in Aiken County.
The museum is conveniently located just south of downtown Aiken. the museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
