Harbison West Elementary School is located in a suburban area of Columbia, between the state capital and Lake Murray in Lexington/Richland School District 5. It serves a diverse population of Asian, African, Hispanic, and European descent. The school continues its tradition of achievement, providing learning opportunities for students from kindergarten through grade five and all of the district's elementary-aged self-contained learning disabled students. The mission is to ensure each student the educational foundation to embrace opportunities through a safe, nurturing, inquisitive, and creative academic environment enhanced by international awareness, and supported by parental and community involvement.
