The Museum features interdisciplinary programs and exhibitions based on art, anthropology, history, and natural history collections. Permanent exhibitions include the Stans African Halls, one of the nation's most comprehensive exhibitions of African animals in natural habitat dioramas, complemented by African cultural artifacts.
The Museum of York County has over 200 animal exhibits from seven continents. Also featured are Native American artifacts reflecting the heritage of the first Carolinians. Guests can also enjoy the planetarium, three art galleries, a nature trail and a museum store.
The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. the museum is closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas eve (all day), and Christmas.
