The museum, situated on the South Dakota State University campus, showcases the diverse artistic legacy of South Dakota, featuring paintings by Oscar Howe and artist-illustrator Harvey Dunn, as well as Sioux tribal art, the Marghab linen collection, and works by other artists. Permanent museum collections include over 6000 objects, displayed on a rotating basis in six galleries.
The museum also offers changing exhibitions and briefings, lectures, children's programs, and other public events throughout the year. Tours of the museum's exhibitions are offered with a few days' advance notice. Open daily.
