Dunfermline is home to a Benedictine Dunfermline Abbey founded in the 11th-century. Charles I, the last British Monarch born in Scotland, was born in the abbey guest house in 1600. Andrew Carnegie, the American steel magnate was born here in 1835 in a cottage on Moodie Street, now a birthplace museum in his honor. Dunfermline is located near Edinburgh.
