Rock Castle

This limestone Federal house, dating to the late 18th century, was built on seven levels by General Daniel Smith, a U.S. senator and protege of Andrew Jackson. General Smith also was the surveyor who drew the first map of Tennessee. A smokehouse and lake are on the grounds.

Open Wednesday through Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 1pm-4pm in February through December; closed major holidays.
