8500 Bay Area Blvd., 6 miles east of I-45, is a 1,800-acre preserve of tall-grass praire, estuarine bayou and coastal woods. On the preserve is a farm exhibit. Hiking trials are available; guided hikes and demonstrations are held Saturdays and Sundays. Adjacent is Bay Area Park which has picnic facilities.
