Franklin Mountain State Park

The Franklin Mountains form a striking backdrop to the City of El Paso. When development threatened the area in the late 1970's, the Texas Legislature authorized the state parks system to acquire the land for a park. The park is the largest urban park in the United States, covering more than 24,000 acres, all within the city limits of El Paso.
