Covering some 260 acres at a location west of Lockhart in Caldwell County, Lockhart State Park has facilities that were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930's. The Battle of Plum Creek was fought a few miles north of the park in August, 1849. Activities at the park include picnicking, camping, fishing, hiking, and a nine-hole golf course, the only staff-operated course in the Texas State Parks System.
