Manti-La Sal National Forest

The three sections of this 1,200,000-acre national forest encompass a great variety of terrain and recreational activities. Redrock canyons and a spectacular natural bridge highlights the southeastern La Sal Division; the Manti Division features narrow canyons, mountain meadows and ridges carpeted with aspen and spruce in central Utah.

Recreation within the forest includes hiking and climbing in the La Sal and Abajo mountains, mountain and road biking, as well as hunting and trout fishing opportunities. There are a large number of campsites. feel free to call ahead to reserve your spot.

Winter gives you the chance to ski and snowmobile in the mountains. Views of Nevada and Colorado can be seen on the Skyline Drive Scenic Backway, an 87-mile scenic route. The road is rough and unpaved, and should only be attempted in good weather; contact a ranger for road conditions before starting out.

Enjoy the wildlife viewing.
