Ferrum is located in Franklin County 33 miles south of Roanoke in the Western Region of the state. Ferrum is south of Roanoke, on Hwy 40; the Philpott Reservoir and Fairy Stone State Park are nearby. Historic museums include the Blue Ridge Institute & Museum.
