The library houses the commonwealth's records from the first colony's founding through the present. Displays feature treasures from the library's extensive collection of books, manuscripts, maps and artwork. Highlights include family bibles, state records, Virginia newspapers from 1736, Patrick Henry' ledger and the journal of the Virginia House of Burgesses. Research facilities are available. Open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, closed holidays. Free to the public.
