Museum of the Confederacy

Founded in 1890, the museum interprets the Civil War through one of the larges collections of Confederate artifacts, paintings and documents. In the collection are some 15,000 articles including military equipment and clothing belonging to Confederate leaders; artifacts of free and enslaved African Americans, art, and more than 500 flags relating to the Confederate armed forces and government. On display is the 1869 15-foot painting 'The Last Meeting of Lee and Jackson.' Open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday noon-5pm; closed major holidays.
