The park preserves the battlefield of the April 2, 1865, Union breakthrough of
Petersburg's defense line. The Battlefield Center features exhibits focusing on the battle. Civil War artifacts include flags and firearms; also interactive video programs and a fiber-optics battle map. A 1.1-mile system of battle trails leads to reconstructed soldiers huts, well-preserved earthwork, artillery emplacements and original picket posts. The 1812 Tudor Hall Plantation features period rooms and interactive displays; guided house and battle trail tours are conducted by costumed interpreters. Open daily 9am-5pm.
