Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park encompasses one of the highest and most scenic portions of the Blue Ridge; the park extends approximately 105 miles along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, between Front Royal on the north and Waynesboro on the south. The park's 196,466 acres contain hundreds of miles of hiking trails and scenic viewpoints; the park is a wildlife sanctuary, providing refuge for about 50 species of animals. The park is open all year, although facilities close in winter. Free guided hikes, trail maps and nature walks are available as are guided horseback rides and picnic facilities.
