The Virginia Historical Society offers museum galleries exhibiting rare Virginia treasures. Highlights include early archaeological specimens including a Virginia dug-out canoe, a re-creation of Francis Lightfoot Lee's dining room, a Conestoga wagon, and a
Richmond streetcar. A library, Civil War murals, and Confederate-made weapons are also featured. Battle Abbey, the original building, is a memorial to the Confederate soldier. Picnicking is permitted. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 1-5pm; closed major holidays.
