This was originally the home of US ambassador Alexander Weddell and his wife, Virginia. Reconstructed from a centuries-old English manor house, this American adaptation of an English country estate is furnished with Elizabethan oak furniture, Flemish tapestries and Spanish colonial art. Landscape architect Charles Gilette designed the gardens. Guided house tours are available. Picnicking on the grounds is permitted. Open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 12:30-5pm; closed major holidays.
