Located next to the Museum of the Confederacy, this was the executive mansion of President Jefferson Davis and his family during the Civil War. The house was saved from demolition by the Confederate Memorial Literary Society in 1890 and served as the Confederate Museum until the mid-1970s. After 10 years of restoration and the return of many of its original furnishings, the mansion has regained its Victorian opulence. Eleven period rooms are on exhibit. Guided tours start in the basement and cover the first and second floors.
