East Dorset is located in
Bennington County, 28 miles north of
Bennington. It lies along Highway 30 near
Emerald Lake State Park.
The Wilson House, a hotel and 1895 birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous co-founder Bill Wilson, is here. It still operates as a hotel as well as a retreat for recovering alcoholics who come by the thousands every year to visit Bill W.'s grave.
The Harold Beebe Farm in East Dorset is the site of the Vermont Summer Festival, comprising five equestrian competitions over five weeks in July and August. The sprawling, well-equipped hunter/jumper facility just off scenic Route 7 North also offers a lovely, peaceful view of the Green Mountains.
