Search Blaine Washington

Birch Bay State Park is a 194-acre park with over 8000 feet of saltwater shoreline and 14,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on Terrell Creek. The park is rich in archeological significance and offers panoramic views of natural, coastal beauty.

The park is open year-round for camping and day use.

Numerous archeological investigations have found evidence indicating that Birch Bay was inhabited by Semiahmoo, Lummi and Nooksack Indians.

Of special interest is the Terrel Creek Marsh, one of the few remaining saltwater/freshwater estuaries in Puget Sound. Its inhabitants of migratory waterfowl, American bald eagles and the Great Blue Heron can be observed here.

The park features many activities including hiking, clamming, birding, water skiing, crabbing, camping and wind surfing. The boat launch allows for small boat launching only (under 16 feet).

The Washington State Parks system includes more than 125 developed parks and covers about a quarter million acres.
