Cape Disappointment Lighthouse

Search Visit Washington

The oldest lighthouse in Washington state, built in 1856, rests on Cape Disappointment, overlooking the mouth of the Columbia River. It was one of the first lighthouses scheduled for construction on the west coast.

Today the lighthouse is adjacent to Fort Canby State Park. An interpretive center in the park displays the original first-order Fresnel lens from Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Tours are offered in the summer months.
