Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge |
The refuge consists of 5646 acres of marsh, meadows, grasslands and forests. The former mountain lake is now present only in winter and early spring. The primary uses of the refuge are to support the spring migration of Canada geese and ducks, mainly mallards and pintails. It also provides habitat for wintering tundra swans, Canada geese, ducks and bald eagles. The common snipe has a major nesting area and the only known nesting area in Washington for sandhill cranes is also found here.
Refuge headquarters are locaed about 10 miles east of Trout Lake and 7 miles southwest of Glenwood on the Glenwood-Trout Lake Road.
