City Map with Features
The flat meadows in this park were called Dose Meadows and made up several old homesteads before being purchased for a recreation area. In the far southeast side, old railroad beds can be found - remnants from the logging days when logs were railed down the mountains to the water where they were floated to the ships and mills. There is a wildlife viewing platform, and vast areas open for field sports. The park features picnicking, hiking, fishing, oyster picking and clamming, camping, shrimping and wildlife viewing. There is one boat launch ramp in the park. The park is on the western shore of Hood Canal along Highway 101, and along either side of the Dosewallips River. This being the case, the park offers both fresh and saltwater activities. The Washington State Parks system includes more than 125 developed parks and includes about a quarter million acres. To make a reservation at more then 60 Washington state parks, contact Washington State Parks from May 15 to Sept. 15.
