Plover is located in Portage County within the Central Region, between Wisconsin Rapids and Waupaca along Hwy 54 on the banks of the Wisconsin River near Stevens Point and Standing Rocks Ski Area. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 10,369, an increase of 2,193 since 1990.
