Wisconsin Rapids

Wisconsin Rapids is located in Wood County (of which it is the county seat) between Black River Falls and Waupaca along Highway 54 on the banks of the Wisconsin River near Stevens Point, Marshfield, Nekoosa, Plover and Petenwell Lake. Wisconsin Rapids was actually created by the merging of two cities, Grand Rapids and Centralia, in the early 1900s.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 18,475, an increase of 230 since 1990.
