Cass Scenic Railroad

Located downtown; the railroad makes several runs with the old steam Shay locomotives that once hauled logging trains up the steep slopes of Cheat Mountain. The rail excursions, which offer scenic mountain vistas, include a 1.5-hour trip to WhittakeStation and a 22-mile, 4.5-hour excursion to the top of Bald Knob. Dinner trains are available on Saturday nights during the summer; fall color runs are offered daily in October. The 1.5-hour trip runs daily at 10:50am, 1 and 3pm, Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day; the 4.5-hour trip runs Tuesday-Sunday at noon, Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day.
