This hatchery was constructed in 1952, and the dirt ponds and raceways were updated to concrete in 1957. Since it is only a rearing station, fry from one to two inches long are grown here and then transferred to other facilities in the state. The water supply comes from local springs and is about 51 degrees F.
A quarantine hatchery at the station, built in 1992, hatches trout eggs from wild brood populations that could have any number of diseases. The majority of the fish raised are rainbow and brown trout, as well as cutthroat trout and kokanee salmon being part of the production. Most fish coming from Boulder are stocked in the Green River drainage and the SW part of Wyoming. Trout fishing near the station is available at the three ponds along a one mile stretch on the East Fork River.
Boulder is 15 miles south of Pinedale on Hwy 191, then 1.5 miles east traveling east on Boulder Rearing Station Road.
