In cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America and the city of
Cheyenne, this park was established in 1971, and was named after the famous broadcaster. The park is in
Laramie, near the crossroads of two major interstates, I-80 and I-25. Elevation ranges from 6,450 ft. to over 7,500 ft.
Driven out by the railroad in the 1860's, this area was a favored camping ground for many Native American tribes while searching for bison. The variety of landscape of this region in the Laramie Mountains foothills is astounding.
The park contains two reservoirs, Hynds Lodge, an amphitheater available for culture and theater purposes, and Ames Monument nearby. Wildlife abounds and both reservoirs are stocked by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department.
