North Platte River

Many people are attracted to the North Platte River's guided fishing, where German Brown fish dominate the stream, taking up a higher percentage than rainbows. Camping and sightseeing are easy to do on your own in the adjacent park. The river covers three states and seven dams, and is controlled by the Bureau of Reclamation. There are many outfitters and sporting goods stores where renting canoes and rafts is an option. Many public access areas are smattered along the river's length, between the lakes upstream from Casper, through the city on the Platte River Parkway, and beyond to Edness K Wilkins State Park.
